Products Explained

This section contains information about the various groundsheets we sell, including technical details and product descriptions. All of our open and close weave groundsheets are fully breathable and approved as suitable for use on sites requiring the use of breathable groundsheets,Including Camping and Caravan Club Sites.

Open weave breathable groundsheets are made of a textured mesh which makes it both safe and comfortable to walk upon. As a general guide the holes in the mesh are of a size that you could push a match stick through easily. This type of groundsheet is acceptable on virtually all sites that require you to use a breathable groundsheet.

Close Weave breathable groundsheet is a more tightly woven product and the breathable holes are a much smaller pin prick size. Looking at the carpet on the ground the holes are not visible, however if you hold the fabric up to the light these tiny holes can be seen. They are manufactured in various materials from vinyl to nylon and terylene mixtures.
This type of groundsheet lets less light, air and moisture through, and whilst acceptable on most sites, it will start to discolour the grass after a couple of weeks.

To ensure the grass survives your visit and is available in reasonable condition for future guests.

All the open weave and most of the close weave groundsheets we sell can be easily cut to size or shape with household scissors with the exception of Carpetina which requires professional heat sealing. Kampa Easytread and Weaveatex can be cut, and sewn but the lightweave does tend to bubble along the edge and could be thought of as unsightly. If you are going to cut either it is best to bind the exposed cut edge with duck tape or similar.
